Sally also provides guidance, direction & script editing for cabaret shows, career advice & audition preparation. She will give you all the tools to get you singing without physical stress, better technique & a solid dramatic truth in your work without loosing the joy of singing.

There are no lock in fees, you can book a regular lesson (better to ensure a time) or just come casually depending on how full the diary is. The lessons are all about you & your needs. We will work on repertoire, making sure you can sing the styles you want with different tones & the right mix of vocal fold mass depending on the song & it's emotional requirements. Your confidence will grow each lesson because you won't be pushed into singing songs that are beyond your capabilities. It is a very safe, nurturing & yet fast moving learning space....Sally knows how the vocal mechanism works but also how individual the instrument is. Sally brings a wealth of experience, technical expertise & dramaturgical knowledge to every student.

Book in a trial lesson to chat more & have a sing & we can take it from there!

MELANIE HAWKINS - THE BOY FROM OZ, SINGING IN THE RAIN, OKLAHOMA, STRICTLY BALLROOM, KING KONG, WICKED, ROCK OF AGES

I have been singing with Sally on and off for a few years and i have loved every lesson. I believe you sing much better if you feel comfortable in the room. Sal creates a really relaxed vibe for her students, perfect to try new techniques and step outside your comfort zone at times. Her musical theatre and general song knowledge is extensive and perfect for any students looking to increase their song repertoire. Sal is full of great ideas for songs to suit your voice and then to assist you with story telling and acting choices...especially to prepare for performances or auditions. With so much experience in the industry Sally is the perfect teacher to receive advice from. I am so thankful for how she has helped me.

STEPHANIE WALL- TOMMY, THE WIZARD OF OZ

I am so grateful to have found Sally as a teacher. Her knowledge in singing, acting and the Australian music theatre industry is second to none, and every time an audition comes up that I need to prepare for, Sally is the first person I call. I don’t know where I would be without her guidance and support as a young professional in the industry. Sally is an expert in her field and I can’t thank her enough for what I’ve learnt from her over the past year.

MICHAEL RALPH  PIRATES OF PENZANCE, SINGING IN THE RAIN, MOONSHADOW, CATS, FAME - THE MUSICAL

I have been going to Sally for 3 years now.  The improvement to my overall confidence was achieved right from the first lesson and continues to grow every week. She has this perfect balance of teaching technique at the same time as working on a song. She also knows how to approach a song in a performance frame of mind which prepares you solidly for an audition sometimes without you realising its happening! I’ve found once I’ve worked on a song with her, I will always sing it the same way and remember every intention if I pull it out of my rep to sing years later.

I always look forward to my lessons and come out feeling positive about myself regardless of my mood previously.  Her sense of humour is infectious. Smiles and laughter throughout the lesson is the norm!

I have secured jobs in professional musicals thanks to her mentoring and guidance - no doubt about it!!

SHAYE HOPKINS  - DIANA THE MUSICAL, GEORGY GIRL, GREASE, LEGALLY BLONDE, ROCK OF AGES, THE BOY FROM OZ

I have been singing with Sally for a year now and have found her extremely helpful in preparing for auditions. She encourages me to extend my abilities as a singer and actor, and is great with understanding and giving meaning to the text. Her accompanying skills are fantastic which is essential in a singing teacher. Having performed in many professional productions, she provides a great amount of knowledge on safe vocal techniques, which for me is an important element for singers of all capabilities.

ZULEIKA KAHN -  AVENUE Q, GODSPELL, FLOWERCHILDREN. MILK AND HONEY

Sally Bourne has been my vocal coach for over 3 years now since I studied at the VCA. She put me on my path to a professional career since being her student. Who better to learn from than a working professional in the industry!!!

She has shaped my voice into a magnificent instrument, and has given me the opportunity to show case my talent to industry professionals. My range has drastically expanded since our first lesson and I now have confidence in my voice that I have learned to use safely.

Sal is amazing! She has endless knowledge of acting, comedy and cabaret, she has given me an edge that has seen me succeed in auditions. She has given me endless loving support, and helps me to make the right choices, all with a laugh and loving hand.

Sally is such an incredible teacher and an all round amazing human being. I have learned so much from her in such a short amount of time. I have been singing with Sally for the past five years and it has been a privilege to work with one of Australians finest. Sally has taught me to explore different avenues of singing through comedy, cabaret, ballads, rock, pop, jazz and music theatre. Sally has guided me to emotionally connect to all songs and to find the authenticity within the lyrics. Through her excellent tuition she has guided me to develop my own cabaret ‘The Duff’ runner-up at the Melbourne Short and Sweet Festival Cabaret section 2016.

ANNIE SHAPERO  PATRICK STUDIOS AUSTRALIA, 16TH STREET

Sally is the most amazing singing teacher you will ever have. Her teaching style enables you to progress faster and more effectively than you could ever imagine. Our sessions are always incredibly fun and she has this undeniable knowledge of the interrelationship between your body - the way you hold it - and the effect it has on your singing. For me personally, this was the biggest factor that allowed me to improve leaps and bounds.

MARK SALVESTRO  NORTH OF EIGHT THEATRE COMPANY, BURIED AT SEA, COMEDY OF ERRORS

Being primarily an actor, singing often gets put on the back burner for me. I’ve sporadically had lessons with Sally Bourne and every time I come home with something valuable and feel excited to explore my voice again. Sally creates a fun, non-judgmental space to learn and grow in, and I’d recommend her to anyone wanting to further their vocal technique, repertoire and confidence.
