ANNIE
Sally’s professional career began in 1978 when she was 12 after she was cast in the title role of the original Australian production of the musical ANNIE. At the time, it was the most expensive musical ever staged in Australia. The announcement of Sally in the title role made headline news and on the day of the press announcement Sally was the lead guest on The Don Lane Show singing ‘Tomorrow’ for an audience of 3 million people, which was quite daunting for a 12 year old!

Apart from working with Nancye Hayes on ANNIE (1976), then the musical NINE (1987) and most recently BRIGADOON (2017), Sally also met her life long friend Robyn Arthur on the show, they worked together in LES MISERABLES in 1998 (Robyn played Mdme Thenadier in the original Australian production), Robyn then worked with Sally's dad, Ernie Bourne on BEAUTY & THE BEAST (Robyn as Mrs Potts & Ernie as Maurice) and when Sally returned from London she appeared alongside Robyn in THE BOY FROM OZ directed by Nancye Hayes.. over 30 years later!

Sally can be heard on the Australian cast recording of ANNIE .... which provided her with her favourite review of her career (and not in a good way!):
